The combination of media that Astrid works with vary but usually include, acrylics, acrylic inks, textured grounds, sometimes mixed with the desert sands taken from her desert trips. 

The use of liquid gold and gold leaf also appear from time to time as she deems it “painting with light”, and examples that you can see in the shimmering light in some of her work. Astrid also draws “life” analogies through her experiences with certain aspects of her life to that of the current landscape on her easel.
